New Arrival from Tuscany!

2014 Villa Donoratico Rosso

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot & Syrah.
Tasting Notes: Bright red ruby color. On the nose very complex with hints of marmalade of fresh plum and carob, beside pleasant notes of chocolate, rosemary and almond paste, finishing with some maraschino hints and the typical balsamic freshness, which reminds the Macchia Mediterranea. On the palate the wine offers primarily a sapid fresh taste followed by fruity notes of plums and a wonderful gentle tannic structure, which gives the sensation of roundness. A clear lingering finish bear witness to the perfect ageing in wood. Good structure and long persistent aftertaste with sapid and complex finish.

New Organic Vodka from Hawaii!

Ocean Organic Vodka

Ocean Vodka is distilled from pure organic sugar cane using continuous column distillation through 103 platelets. Each platelet acts as a mini-distillation, resulting in an exceptionally pure spirit.
Ocean Vodka is the only spirit in the world made with 100% deep ocean mineral water, sourced from 3,000 feet below the Kona Coast of the Island of Hawaii. The water in Ocean Vodka contains trace minerals including calcium, magnesium and potassium, which combine to create an exceptionally smooth and distinct flavor. These minerals impart a light, crisp taste in Ocean vodka, and make a better tasting drink. Ocean is best served on the rocks, or mixed with freshly squeezed fruit juices.

A crisp new wine to close out the summer!!

2015 Emmolo Sauvignon Blanc
Inspired by the idea that less is more, this wine is more minerality-driven than fruit-driven. Not grassy or overly ripe, it offers up delicate fruit flavors with a crisp, bright minerality that calls to mind a first summer rain. Our grapes come from two family vineyards, and we harvest the fruit at just the right moment to achieve a balance of firm acidity and low alcohol. Come taste it on Saturday!

McPrice Myers Tasting!
Mac became a complete food and wine geek in his early twenties. This led him to frequent sojourns to the Central Coast, where he became a quick study of the burgeoning wine scene. Mac’s first vintage was 2002. His enthusiasm for the local vineyards in Paso Robles and Santa Barbara County was matched only by the lure of the Rhone Valley. Mac’s own wines received overnight praise from the wine press-at-large. With a keen eye on the future of California vineyards and a respectful nod to the Old World, Mac continues to impress as one of the most progressive and even-handed winemakers on the Central Coast.

A new limited release from Dogfish Head!

Lupa Luau IPA
The story of Lupu-Luau began when Sam was hanging outside with coworkers during an overly-sunny day. One present coworker in particular was lacking heavily in the melanin department, to put it lightly. A friendly joke about a total tan aversion led to this legendary comment, “You can say it, Sam, I’m pale as f**k.” The brewer in Sam thought that would make a cool name for a super pale beer. From there the wheels started turning and the iterative R&D process began.
Sam set out to make a hazy, overly pale, beer but the test batches weren’t quite there yet. However, during that process, he found out how great coconuts work in an IPA and decided that the new goal was to make an IPA using as much coconut as possible. We started with a combination of Pils malt with flaked barley, rolled oats, and malted and raw wheat to get it all hazy. Then we introduced coconuts three ways by adding toasted coconut, dehydrated coconut water and an experimental hop variety that provides a unique coconut & woody aroma.
The result? A lupulin-loaded, coconut-centric ale. Our Lupu-Luau IPA!

A new rockstar red blend from Spain!

2012 Vallegarcia Hipperia
INTENSE, PROFOUND AND ELEGANT
Hipperia is a novel wine that expresses aromas and flavors of fully mature red berry fruits. It is the fruit of evolution and experience acquired over the last 15 years. To a base of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot we add the elegance of Cabernet Franc and the power of the Petit Verdot. Hipperia 2005 was the first wine brand developed in our new winery, which has excellent facilities for the elaboration of high quality wines. The result is a wine born from a balanced blend of these four varieties, each of their essences working to create a unique harmony. The scents and fresh, balsamic aromas highlight its power, maturity and mineral richness.
Tasting Notes:
From elegant cherry color, good aromatic intensity where notes of mineral and balsamic, thyme and rosemary, excels along with red fruits, and a background of fine notes of wood. Silky entry in palate, round, structured, again fruity and balsamic notes and ending with a subtle toasted that induces to drink. It is a very long and persistent wine.

It's Dave Phinney Locations Week! Join us for a Tasting! - July 27, 2017 ShareThis
The Locations Story...

PHILOSOPHY
In the world of wine there are compelling Locations that exist where soil, climate and vines interact to produce grapes that uniquely express their Location through wine. Our love of wine recognizes the nuances of time and place that combine and interact to represent location. These Locations exist individually within appellations of the new and old world, but are seldom combined across appellation, in the art of blending due to laws and restrictions that make it near impossible to express true winemaking freedom.
In Champagne, across appellation blending is a time honored and respected tradition – a tried and true method for producing a premium and consistent wine that represents the best aspects of the Champagne region. Why can’t this concept be taken wider – across country? Why do the rules not allow this? Why are these rules accepted?
But what if it could be done. What if one could blend across all of the major appellations, to produce a wine that represented a country of origin? What if one could do this across all of the major wine producing regions of the world. What if there were no rules? What if one had complete freedom to express whatever one believed. Could it be done?
The question is – do you break the rules, and thousands of years of history and tradition, in pursuit of expressing freedom?

WE BELIEVE SO.
WELCOME TO LOCATIONS.

Keep Summer rolling with this beauty!

2014 Grgich Hills Fum
é Blanc
Relying on naturally-occurring yeasts, we fermented 80% of the grapes in 900-gallon French oak casks, called foudres, with the remainder in previously used small French oak barrels. We then aged the wine six months on its lees (the spent yeast) in neutral barrels. The combination of the right clones and cool growing region produced juicy tropical fruit and lemongrass flavors with a touch of minerality at the end of a long finish that are perfect with a wide range of food, including grilled seafood, chicken, oysters, creamy pastas dishes and summer salads!

An amazing new vintage of Olianas Vermentino!

2016 Olianas Vermentino
Vinification - About 20% of the grapes are harvested slightly earlier and fermented with maceration on the skins, partly in stainless steel and partly in clay jars, without inoculating according to Biointergrale procedures. The must is then used as a “pied de cuve” to activate spontaneous fermentation. The remaining amount of grapes, after destemming and soft pressing are fermented in stainless steel at 14-16?C.
Tasting Notes - Bright and refreshing notes of grapefruit and citrus with hints of spices and bread crust. The palate is balanced and round with a pleasant finish.
Pairings - Perfect as an aperitif. It pairs well with fish dishes or with a medium aged cheese.

A taste of Oregon - Sokol Blosser!

When our parents Bill Blosser and Susan Sokol Blosser planted their first vines in 1971, they needed all of their youthful self-confidence, energy and determination to make their way because there was no wine industry in Oregon. Today, with over 500 wineries and more than 19,000 acres of vineyards, Oregon wines are available throughout the world. Sokol Blosser has survived, grown and prospered as a family-owned and run operation, and we are proud to have been part of developing and shaping Oregon's now prominent wine industry.
We strive to create wines of world class quality that are produced sustainably, mindful of the environment, and that express the distinctive flavors of our hillside vineyards. Sokol Blosser wines reflect who we are - our values and our sense of place. We hope you enjoy them!

   A beautiful new Beaujolais Rose!

2016 MAISON L’ENVOYÉ “LE SAINT PÂLE” GAMAY NOIR ROSÉ
Maison L’Envoyé selects distinct parcels from a handful of growers predominantly on the southern side of Mont Brouilly. These vineyard blocks are planted on the renowned upper slopes, contain vines that are more than 40 years old, and are farmed specifically for the production of rosé.
WINEMAKING: The Gamay Noir clusters were picked at night and immediately transported to the winery. After gentle de-stemming, the juice was left in contact with the skins for up to 8 hours to extract color and build texture. The grapes were then gently pressed and the juice moved to stainless steel tanks where fermentation took place at an average temperature of 55°F.
TASTING NOTES: The maiden release of the “Le Saint Pâle” Rosé is delicate and lively yet fleshy and generous. Enticing aromas of tangerine, watermelon, lime blossom and wild strawberry are supported by the subtlest touches of aniseed and lanolin. The palate is bright, energetic and mouthwatering with fresh summer fruits and floral notes supported by a steely mineral backbone. The wine’s juicy natural acidity is complemented by an underlying creaminess that enlivens the mouthfeel and delivers balance to the long and luscious finish.

New Vintage of The Creator has arrived - Taste it Saturday!

2014 K Vintner's The Creator Cabernet
Concentrated, dense, rich and badass! This long wine contains dark plum, black pepper, cool ash, grilled meat and morels.
All so powerful is The Creator!

BLEND - 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah

94 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“. . . the 2014 The Creator, offers lots of dark fruits (currants, cassis), wood smoke, graphite and chocolate to go with a full-bodied, ripe, downright sexy profile on the palate. Harvested at the same time, with minuscule yields, this rich, uber-concentrated wine shows its Cabernet profile in its tannin and structure, with the Syrah giving it plenty of flesh and texture, as well as a certain meatiness. It will have two decades of overall longevity.”
Reg. Price $64.99    Sale Through Saturday $59.99
Jaws Chardonnay from Francis Ford Coppola!

    2015 Director's Jaws Chardonnay
Director’s wines were created to honor Francis Ford Coppola’s two great loves: wine and film. As we near our 10-year anniversary of producing these wines, we thought it apropos to commemorate this milestone with a line-up of limited-edition wines inspired by directors and movies that Francis holds in greatest admiration. These wines feature on the labels reproductions of retro-futuristic movie posters by Laurent Durieux, an artist much admired by Coppola.
These wines are set apart from our original Director’s wines. They are different blends that feature fruit sourced not just from Sonoma County, but Monterey, Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo and beyond. By blending fruit of various appellations, we’re able to create wines with expressive textural dimension and lush, juicy fruit flavors.
VINTAGE NOTES
2015 was a great year for Chardonnay around the state, especially in Sonoma and Monterey. Great sun exposure and an early harvest brought fruit in at peak ripeness. In this blend, the fruit from Sonoma gave us tropical pineapple tones while the Monterey grapes contributed crisp lemon lime citrus notes.
TASTING NOTES
Enjoy a perfume of exotic aromas including ripe tropical fruits like pineapple and passion fruit, sweet Meyer lemon and fresh baked shortbread cookies. The rich, creamy palate opens with the flavor of home baked lemon bars followed by impressions of melon and baking spices. You’ll also find classic Chardonnay minerality and a warm toasted oak finish. In keeping with the movie’s seaside setting, this wine pairs beautifully with lobster rolls, fried clams, fresh oysters, and grilled fish.

Canned Vinos!

Canned wine is about as hot as beverage trends come: According to Nielsen data, the category’s sales volume grew 231 percent over the year-long period that ended in April. And The Daily Beast last month quoted a California winemaker saying he knows of as many as three dozen canned wine debuts scheduled for this summer.
The first canned wine to enter the American mainstream was Niebaum Coppola’s Sofia Blanc de Blanc, named for the "Lost in Translation" filmmaker and inspired by soda packaging that her father had spied in Japanese vending machines. But in the 13 years since its introduction, drinkers have grown more comfortable with cans, largely because craft beer producers have tutored them in the format’s advantages. Canned beverages are protected from sunlight, stay cold longer and are easier to handle than glass at the beach or on a mountain trail!

2013 Fortress Cabernet Sauvignon
WINEMAKING PHILOSOPHY
Our winemaking is relatively uncomplicated and straightforward: Focus on the vineyard, use time-honored, minimalist winemaking techniques, and let the fruit shine through. Fortress is largely estate-grown from vineyards situated on the ridges above Alexander Valley and hillsides at the base of Mount St. Helena in Knights Valley. Our winegrowing is guided by responsible farming practices that enable vines to produce smaller, intense fruit clusters, resulting in a wine with structure, weight and texture.
WINE PROFILE
Fortress Cabernet Sauvignon delivers aromas of dark fruit, mocha and baking spices on the nose. The palate exhibits well integrated tannins that complement the subtle earthy flavors of pomegranate, blackberry and sweet pipe tobacco. With a rich, opulent mouth feel, Fortress is an approachable wine with a silky, lush finish.
Reg. Price $27.99   Sale Through Saturday $22.99

A beautiful new rich blend from Elyse!
14 L'Ingenue
2014 L'Ingenue White Wine
Grape Varieties
45% Roussanne, 30% Marsanne, 19% Viognier, and 6% Grenache Blanc
Vineyard
Naggiar Vineyard sits on a large knoll in Grass Valley, at an elevation of 1300 feet with sloping hillsides undulating around it. The gravelly soil provides ample drainage beneath the vines, which are sparsely irrigated to create low yields of tighter, more intense berries. The area’s hot days, cool afternoon breezes and cold nights produce an ideal balance that contributes to the highest quality grapes, which are eventually picked by hand in the cool of the night.
Tasting Notes
L’Ingénue (naïve girl) is composed of four white grape varietals that are well known to the Rhône Valley of France and very well received by the terroir of the Sierra Foothills. The 2014 is bursting with generous aromas of citrus, peach, nectarine and orange blossom honey. Appealing flavors of ripe peach, marzipan, Key lime and pineapple show through this wine’s creamy mouthfeel buoyed by crisp acidity. L’Ingénue has great palate weight, wonderful texture, bright fruit, and a long, supple finish. This is truly a white even a die-hard red wine drinker will enjoy!
Serve with shellfish, rich seafood dishes, and fowl. This wine’s substantial weight and bright fruit also make a nice pairing with spicy Asian cuisine.

Tenute Tomasella, Friuli Italy!
The Tenute Tomasella winery on the border between Friuli and Veneto, between the DOC Friuli Grave area and the DOC Piave area. Its geographical position is an essential prerequisite for winemaking as an expression of the territory. Our winery benefits from the fusion of two areas that have very different geographical and cultural characteristics and traditions. It focuses on the continuous pursuit of details that make a “correct” wine excellent.
But that is not all. We believe that in order to arouse emotions it is essential to patiently listen to what the land tells us. Our passion has been handed down from generation to generation; a common thread has brought together all those who have dedicated their skills, time and effort for 50 years.
Time and dedication mark the transformation stages of a bunch of grapes, which is hand-picked with great care and respect, since wine primarily depends on the vineyard. All processes from gentle pressing to temperature-controlled vinification and a long period of aging on fine lees is carried out with the minimum use of sulphites. We believe that wine obtained by this method plays an important role in satisfying our consumers, since quality is our starting point and our passion drives us beyond.. ?We always like to look one step ahead, without forgetting our roots. ?Without a doubt, wine is tradition but also innovation.
All this has led us to pursue sensory experiences that are able to surprise, with unique interpretations of flavors that are deep-rooted in the territory of origin. The final outcome can be described in a few essential words: agreeable, pleasant, strong personality, elegant and refined.

The debut release of Sofia Brut Rosé flaunts a floral nose highlighted by aromatic notes of tea leaves and flavors of tart red currants, pomegranate, strawberries, peaches, cloves, and spice berries. An amazing new arrival from South Africa!

2013 Constantia Glen Three

Constantia, South Africa

59% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon & 16% Cab Franc

I had a chance to taste this wine with Marietheres from the winery last week. It is her family's winery and I absolutely love their story. The wine far outperforms it's price point, grab a bottle and imagine your looking down at this view from the top of the winery...

The 2013 Constantia Glen THREE bids an utterly complex collection of savory flavors with some dark fruit and truffle that consume the senses at first glance. Youthful in color with a dark, cardinal core unwinding into a bright and lively ruby rim. This focused vintage promises old world authenticity with its floral herb aromas of rosemary along with an intriguing lace of cassis, currant and the most elegant of spices.
The savory flavors illustrated on the nose follow flawlessly onto that first sip, where elegant, velvety tannins grip the palate in a vibrant intensity of flavor. This incredible richness and concentration of fine grain tannin is further echoed by an earthy minerality and the wine’s fresh, natural acidity that brings about a long, well-defined finish. This full-bodied blend has great potential to well withstand the test of time and remain true to its terroir for at least another decade if stored under correct cellar conditions.

French Cafe Classic from the 50's Re-born!

Blanc Limé
Jean Pierre Xiradakis, the owner of the renowned restaurant “La Tupina” met our family a few years ago, which has been producing wines in Bordeaux since 1858.
Together, we decided to breathe life back into Blanc Limé, which is produced following an authentic recipe: a base of dry white wine with a careful blend of natural citrus aromas, and a touch of fizz. In the 50s, this was the drink of choice in the cafés of South-West France and the brasseries of Paris.
Blanc Limé, made with Bordeaux white wine, is part of the local heritage. It grew famous from popular celebrations and public festivals. It’s built around a spirit of fun and simple pleasure: your first tipple after a sports match, at the village fête, or the county dance – but also at the bar. It’s associated with joy and partying, loved by both young and old. Nor should it be excluded from the distinguished dining table of a well-known restaurant. It’s joyful, fizzy, refreshing, natural, and a little bit alcoholic.
It’s a worthy representative of the values of South-West France!

Signature Brut
Bouvet-Ladubay sources its fruit from more than 100 plots in the Loire Valley, obtaining the best quality at every harvest through its long-standing relationships with winegrowers. The limestone subsoil is ideal for the cultivation of Chenin Blanc, and the mild climate coupled with the excellent drainage of the clay creates the natural acidity needed to produce a balanced sparkling white wine. The grapes are pressed in the vineyards and the juice is delivered directly to the cellars. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, then the finest wines from each lot are blended and the cuvée is bottled for the second fermentation, following the traditional method.

Juicy, expansive red berry preserve flavors are given a dry edge by a slow-building talc-y note. New Rosé Arrival from the Languedoc!

2016 Gerard Bertrand Cote Des Roses
Côte des Roses celebrates the Mediterranean lifestyle. The Languedoc appellation stretches along the Mediterranean coast from the Spanish border as far as the city of Nîmes, along the foothills of the Montagne Noire and the Cévennes. The soils are highly varied, mainly with hard limestone and schist, but also gravel transported by the rivers of the Languedoc region.
The warm, windy climate (“semi-arid Mediterranean climate with mild winters”) helps the grapes to ripen in good, healthy condition, while retaining all their fresher qualities thanks to the altitude and the influence of the sea which eases the scorching summer heat. The bottle is original with its base in the shape of a rose, created by a young designer from the Ecole Boulle. A wine to be given in the same way you would offer a bunch of roses!

Sale through Saturday $14.99

Frank Family Vinos!
The Vineyard's story began with the purchase of a home. Frank Family's story began with a patriarch who laid the foundation for three generations to become a part of a historical winery. Throughout our every day, our every guest interaction, and our every vintage, we hope to carry this story forward, and pass it down through more generations to come.
Rich and Leslie Frank fell in love with Napa Valley separately, and fell in love here together. Rich founded Frank Family Vineyards in 1992 after first purchasing a home in the heart of Rutherford, on what would later become Winston Hill—also where he later proposed to Leslie.
Now, as Frank Family Vineyards' proprietors, they manage everything from overseeing vineyard purchases and coordinating charitable giving initiatives, to sales and marketing and building the Frank Family brand, while working closely with Winemaker Todd Graff tasting blends before and selecting those for bottling. Sharing in guests' stories is what brings them to the tasting room daily, where their passion for the historical winery is fostered by the familial community.

“Our philosophy is we don't have customers; we have guests. And the idea is that our guests have a great time.”

Piancornello takes its name from the hamlet just South of Montalcino where the winery is located. Because of the warm climate, this is considered one of the finest areas of Brunello.
The vineyards are located on moderately sloped hills with rocky, volcanic soils and southern exposures. The clones at Piancornello were chosen carefully in order to have low yields and looser bunches. A modern winemaking facility has been built in front of the old cellar. The new facility is humidity controlled with ample provisions for the various barriques and traditional 30 hectoliter barrels employed by the winery.

Baracchi Wine Tasting!
Riccardo Baracchi and Benedict Baracchi the farm, located in the rolling hills of the Chiana Valley in the sun of Tuscany, producing wine for five generations, back to 1860. The owner, Richard wanted to unite and share the world of hospitality, catering and well being with the production of great wines.
He and his son Benedict and oenologist and agronomist Stefano Chioccioli, has created a modern and dynamic. The idea is to produce wines that are so mirror and expression of the territory but also manage to reinterpret it with the passing of the seasons and techniques.  Always with the utmost attention to quality and authenticity of the products.

Astore Trebbiano ~ Cortona, Italy *New Arrival
The wine has a strong personality and is pale yellow with golden hues, it has an intense aroma of ripe fruit with hints of apple, tropical fruits and citrus that summarize the characteristics of the grape. In the mouth it is round, but with a pleasant acidity that balances well with the structure due to the skins. harmonious wine with a good persistence. It goes first major, white meats and grilled fish.
Smeriglio Sangiovese  ~ Cortona, Italy *New Arrival
Nice big ruby vividness. Perfumes which start from a pleasant balsamic note and develop on wild berries such as blackberry and raspberry tones, like purple wildflowers perfectly recognizable, the passage in barrels releases hints of vanilla and light toasting. The palate is intense, fresh, fruity but also solid, compact and compelling: much in line with the sense of smell. It goes well with succulent meats, bassacorte roasts and game, mature cheeses.
Smeriglio Syrah Cortona, Italy *New Arrival
Deep ruby red. Intense and persistent nose with an immediate aroma of spices which underline pepper, followed by hints of wild berries, vanilla and coffee.
The palate has a nice roundness and is perfectly in line with the sense of smell. fruity finish and persistent. It goes well with hearty food, tasty first, second and decided by cooking rich in flavors, roasted red meats.

Trebbiano Brut Millesimato
Cortona, Italy *New Arrival
Nose is wonderfully fresh, intense and persuasive with pear and citrus, the Mediterranean and light minty aroma combined with a note caseosa.
The taste is fruity and full aftertaste with a hint of almond. A large body supported by an important acidity, the bubbles caress around the palate accompanied by delicate notes of yeast, it is expressed by balance and great elegance.

Tell her goodbye tasting!
If you have shopped here for any length of time chances are you know Melissa better than anyone else in the store including Vickie and I.  She has been with us since before we opened in 2008. Through the years she has been an amazing co-worker, friend & wine pairing guru to us all. She has really helped build this shop into what it is today. We are very sad to lose her but at the same time we are so excited for her and her future with her wonderful
fiancée Bill in Michigan. Come by and see her one last time behind the tasting bar. She picked out some fantastic things for us to taste!

A little about the Winery....
We are 5th generation agriculturists. More than viticulturists or farmers, agriculturalists are modern experts in the field of agriculture. We are stewards of our land, caring for and enhancing its' environmental and social value, always striving to provide a life more abundant for all. Utilizing all available knowledge + technology, we create harmony in the ecosystem of our farm, and produce wines that demonstrate the unique terrior of the Horse Heaven Hills with a sense of balance. This is the highest form of art that we, as agriculturalists, can accomplish.
"Balancing  the care of the plants today with the care of the ecosystem that they thrive in from year to year always weighs heavily on our minds. Mother nature keeps things in check for us. Our hot dry climate, long days with winds during the growing season and cold winters reduce the need for farming inputs. Less passes through the vineyard, which leads to fewer CO2 emissions and less soil compaction. "

Opolo Vineyards, Paso Robles!
The Opolo Story
They say good fences make good neighbors, but it was a love of wine and winemaking that was the entrée between Opolo owners
Rick Quinn and Dave Nichols.
Their two families have lived side-by-side in Camarillo since 1996. As Nichols remembers, “I knew Rick to say hello to, but that was about it. Then one day, he said to me, ‘Hey Dave, I just planted 10,000 grapevines!’ “ And so began the evolution of Opolo, one of Paso Robles’ newest labels. Quinn and Nichols have been neighbors in two counties since 1997 when Nichols bought vineyard property adjoining Quinn’s. Together they now own about 280 acres of vineyards in Paso Robles, about 200 acres on the Eastside and 80 on the Westside. The Westside vineyards are in the Adelaide Hills, producing wines such as Pinot Noir and Sangiovese, while the Eastside properties produce varietals such as Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The majority of vineyards have been producing fruit since 1998, and a small percentage of it has been finding its way into wine made by Quinn and Nichols ever since. 1999 marked the first commercial crush under the Opolo label, when Quinn and Nichols produced Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Zinfandel, and Muscat Canelli.

Limited time special on 2 great vinos!

Daou 'The Pessimist' Red Blend
Appellation: Paso Robles, California
Tasting Notes: The 2014 pessimist is a very dark wine that offers gorgeous crème de cassis, black cherry, boysenberries, and toasted vanilla beans accompanied with sweet tannins and purity of fruit. Firm, yet elegant tannins balance the powerhouse of fruit and lead to a strong, lasting finish of black pepper, pipe tobacco, and spicy oak.
Blend: 52% Syrah, 26% Zinfandel, 18% Petite Sirah, 3% Tannat, 1% Grenache
“The Daou brothers continue to focus on Bordeaux varieties from their estate that’s located high up off of Peachy Canyon Road. Across the board, these wines show fantastic purity of fruit, excellent concentration, and rich, textured personalities that never seem heavy or over-the-top. These are highly recommended and show the quality that’s possible from Bordeaux varieties in Paso Robles.”
-The Wine Advocate, Issue #214 - August 2014

Mer Soleil Silver UnOaked Chardonnay
Our Grapes - The story of a wine is the story of a place, and it's hard to imagine a better place to make Chardonnay than Monterey County. As John Steinbeck wrote, "I've lived in good climate, and it bores the hell out of me. I like weather rather than climate." There is no shortage of weather in Monterey County, which includes the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation. Tranquil early morning fog and sunny afternoons give way to afternoon winds, with gusts of up to 20 miles per hour. Out of that dramatic combination comes a slow ripening of grapes that allows us to produce intense fruit flavors balanced with vibrant acidity.
Our Style - Never seeing the inside of an oak barrel, our Mer Soleil Silver is a pure, clean expression of Chardonnay. Our wine is fermented and aged in a combination of stainless steel and small concrete tanks that are imported from Burgundy, France. We keep fermentation temperatures stable while allowing a small amount of oxygen contact. The result: enhanced flavor development that is similar to aging in an oak barrel - but without the oak.
Our Break With Tradition - Mer Soleil Silver is not a typical Chardonnay, and its bottle is equally distinct. Its matte gray finish was inspired by the concrete fermenters that create this wine's singular character. For us, that character stems from a true sense of place, grapes grown in ideal conditions and winemaking techniques that break from tradition to create something new.
-Charlie Wagner, Winemaker

Ballast Point Red Velvet Nitro

This stout takes the cake.
Our Red Velvet oatmeal stout is a mind-bending beer. 2012 Fontodi Chianti Classico
Juicy, traditional and evocative, this Chianti Classico is all about elegance. This ruby red mono-varietal Sangiovese Chianti Classico explodes with succulent, ripe red fruit, sun-warmed cigar wrapper, baking spices, freshly tilled earth, and crushed violets. Welcoming and genial, this ’12 wine practically grabs your ears to pull you back to the glass; it’s a balanced, harmonious and very compelling vintage that will make Chianti lovers sigh with happiness. Fontodi practices organic agriculture and non-interventionist protocol, relying on the estate's exceptional southern position in a natural amphitheater composed of marl soil, which allows the grapes to ripen perfectly and the estate to create wines of great character and structure.
 CURRENT & PAST SCORES
93 points Wine Enthusiast
Aromas of blackberry, crushed violet, tilled earth and a hint of tobacco lead the nose of this generous wine. The chewy palate offers juicy Marasca cherry, ground pepper, clove and anise alongside ripe, velvety tannins. It’s already delicious but will continue to develop over the next few years. Drink through 2020.

Fontodi Extra Virgin Olive Oil
The Manetti family has owned Fontodi since 1969 but has been in Chianti for centuries. Though they have always made wine, their primary business is still the production of Chianti's finest terracotta at their factory in Ferrone. Giovanni Manetti has run the property since 1980 and ensures the wines are as meticulously made as the vineyards are immaculately tended. Their 80 hectares of vineyard, 90% of which are Sangiovese, are situated in the prime 'conca d'oro' (golden shell) of Panzano, and over the past six years these have been converted to organic viticulture. Giovanni is now following biodynamic principles to obtain the best quality fruit.
Olive Groves
In addition to the 67 hectares of vineyard on the Fontodi estate, there are a further 5,000 olive trees situated in a variety of different plots, predominantly on marl soils, at altitudes between 400-500 metres above sea level. The trees are planted in polyconical vase formation and at 400 plants per hectare.
Harvest Information
The 2014 growing season presented a number of difficulties to olive growers, especially to those in Tuscany. The olive tree usually yields well only in alternate years, and 2014 was one of its low cropping years. This was exacerbated by cold weather in December, which reduced quantity, and a dry year, which resulted in small olives, so less oil. In most areas of Tuscany, crops are down by between 30-50% on last year. While the crop is small, the style is softer than in past years. This is due to the warmer year, which also saw the grape harvest begin at least two weeks earlier than usual. The olives were very healthy when picked - there were no problems with flies or other pests - so the oils are clean and fruity and very nicely balanced.
Production
The olives are picked by hand and carefully pressed on the same day in order to retain the maximum freshness and fragrance of the fruit.
Tasting Notes
A richly-coloured oil that is a delicate balance of components. It shows fine aromas of artichoke leaf and an elegant flavour. Perfect for drizzling over spicy or pungent leaves like arugula and watercress or meaty pastas and robust soups. It is also great for dunking freshly baked white bread in!

The wine saturates the palate. Mineral driven, floral, blood, and scorched earth. This is a wine of evolution that gains richness as time goes by. This wine is so good!
 CURRENT & PAST SCORES
95 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“Coming all from the Sundance Vineyard on the Wahluke Slope, the medium-ruby colored 2013 Syrah The Deal Sundance Vineyard is a unique, singular Syrah that gives up beautiful notes of kirsch, blackberries, sandy, dried soils and hints of olive tapenade. Full-bodied, concentrated, with a great mid-palate and satin-textured tannins, it will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and cruise for a decade after that.”
94 Points, Wine Spectator (v2012)
“Plush and generous, with roasted meat and green olive flavors underlying rich currant, plum and spice character, which swirls through the long, expressive finish against refined tannins. Offers great presence and depth. Drink now through 2025.”

2014 3Ball Zinfandel
Paso Robles, Sonoma County, Amador County
86% Zinfandel/10% Petite Sirah /4% Carigane

3 of the best Zinfandel appellations brought together to make a wine that combines the best characteristics of each region. We primarily source our Sonoma County fruit from both the Dry Creek Valley, known for its amazingly dense, spicy, and muscular wines, and the Russian River Valley where cool temperatures yield wines of depth and great acidity. Our Paso Robles component hails from the West Side where ancient vines deliver flavors of raspberry jam and spices. The mountain foothills of Amador provide a rustic and warm component to the blend adding layers of brambly fruit. We add some Petite Sirah and Carignane to tie all of these Zins together with a blueberry/cranberry epoxy. We hope you find this wine to be a perfect representation of how you showcase these three great regions in one bottle. This is 3Ball.
Just an amazing nose of warmth and comfort featuring aromatics of raspberry, dark cherry, the briar from a brand new pipe, and root beer. The blueberry flavors hit at first followed by various black fruits that wrap around the tongue in a lush, seamless blanket. You get a faint wisp of new oak towards the middle followed by cranberry and raspberry supported on a seam of bright acidity.

New vintage of Lucente Super Tuscan!

2014 Lucente Super Tuscan

The growing season was defined by a regular spring that was only slightly warmer than usual and facilitated an earlier budding. Summer was relatively cool and rainy, which kept water reserves well-supplied and helped the grapevines develop regularly. These conditions resulted in an optimal ripening of the grapes that reached the harvest intensely colored and perfectly healthy.
Lucente 2014 is a deep red color with purple highlights. The wine’s bouquet is complex: fruity notes of black cherry and small red fruits are enhanced by moderately toasted scents; pleasant vanilla and lightly roasted coffee beans linger delicately in the background. Well rounded with silky tannins that bestow a balanced and harmonious structure, this is an eminently elegant and enjoyable wine. Made up of Merlot & Sangiovese.

Reg. Price $27.99  Sale Through Saturday $24.99
New Arrival from Firestone Walker Brewing!

Agrestic #3 - American Wild Red Ale

The 2016 Batch #3 begins its journey as DBA, then transforms into Agrestic by a “chrysalis” process involving 85% French and 15% American oak barrels and our proprietary collection of microflora. To blend, we selected beer matured eight to 36 months in barrels, creating a synergistic beer. Like Batch #2, Agrestic Batch #3 signature flavors and aromas shine.  Toasted oak, lemon pith, and rosewood swirl on the nose and pale, followed by an amazing harmony of vanilla, coconut, Earl Grey tea, dark cherries and spice. The finish is crisp, with a mouthwatering acidity and chewy tannins.  A santé!

A great new Red Blend for the New Year's Celebration!

2014 “The Rebel” Red Wine
The Rebel is a second label or a cousin (if that makes more sense) of the Scarborough Family Wines.  With all of these expensive wines out there, and the inexpensive wines tasting like cheap cologne mixed with red dye #2, something had to be done.  Ergo, welcome Rebel Red!  It takes everything that you love about wine and just lowers the price.
Rebel History:  The Rebel was conceived in 2007, when Washington wine was becoming more and more expensive.  The question was asked, “Why aren’t there enough affordable wines from our own state?”  The Rebel answers these questions.  With the amount of grapes grown in this state, we should be able to find good grapes for good prices and then instead of oaking the wine to death, let’s use mainly neutral barrels—like they do in many places in Europe!  The result:  A great wine for a great price.  Unfined and unfiltered.
Rebel Notes:  Worthy of aging, but when it tastes this good, drink and age.  In typical style, the Rebel is not an over the top fruit bomb.  Red currants, anise, blackberries, earth, enhanced with soft, but sturdy tannins, make way for a beautiful smooth finish which makes your palate long for more.
This wine has always scored well with the press and the public.   We simply can’t make enough of this wine.  Everyone realizes that wine that tastes this good–and has this type of quality, but yet is the bargain of the century never lasts long.  Did someone just say the BARGAIN OF THE CENTURY?  Yes, it was said and while it’s taken more than two years to produce the next Rebel we seen so many imitators come into the market and look so similar to what is trademarked by yours truly.  But why fight?  I don’t care.  If those wines can offer up what this wine offers, I give them all the credit.  If not, then I call for an international investigation of what a true value wine is.  One of the great things about this wine is that it can actually age, and is not, for the first time, made from purchased wine.

Christmas Week Special on Prisoner Magnums!

Grab a 1.5L Magnum for the Holiday Table!
The Prisoner was created and inspired by the drinkable “mixed blacks” first made by the Italian immigrants who originally settled in the Napa Valley. Launched in 2003, The Prisoner soon became the most recognized innovative and unique Napa Valley Red Wine blend, leading the resurgence of blends by incorporating Zinfandel with the unlikely “mix” of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Charbono.
Features enticing aromas of Bing cherry, dark chocolate, clove, and roasted fig. Persistent flavors of ripe raspberry, boysenberry, pomegranate, and vanilla linger harmoniously, for a smooth and luscious finish.

Andy Warhol by Cuvaison Collector's Pack

The Perfect Gift for the Warhol/Wine Collector!
It was the early 1980s, the scene, a dinner party in Heerbrugg, Switzerland, hosted by Alexander Schmidheiny -- who two years before had bought Napa Valley's Cuvaison winery.  Proudly opening a bottle for an American guest, Pop artist Andy Warhol, Schmidheiny asked: "What do you think?" Warhol replied, "What a lousy label!"
Schmidheiny's wife and partner, Christina, recalled that Warhol accepted a challenge to design something better.  But somehow the resulting 50+ labels were mostly forgotten in a drawer until now.
We are proud to offer this first release in a series of three. The collector's box includes exclusive wines from our two Napa Valley estates: a Chardonnay from Carneros and a red Bordeaux blend from Brandlin Vineyard on Mount Veeder. Both the beautifully-crafted wines and collector's box feature original artwork created by Andy Warhol.

Special New Arrival from Firestone Walker -

XX - 20th Anniversay Ale

As a finished blend, XX is a beautifully textured and complex brew, with layers that unfold as the beer opens up. At first there is a burst of brandy soaked cherries, then chocolate cake combined with distinct boozy new American oak notes. The flavor develops full of molasses rich brown sugar and fruitcake with a touch of caramel and cinnamon spice. Overall the beer is silky smooth, incredibly balanced and finishes with a touch of kirsch filled truffle – a perfect blend of everything we love about our vintage barrel program! This beer is unfiltered and unfined, so there will be a small amount of sediment in the bottom of the bottle. XX is best enjoyed poured carefully into a half filled brandy snifter or wine glass. Allow it to warm to 55F to fully enjoy the pleasing and complex aromas. As the beer sits and breathes in the glass the true complexity of this blend is revealed, so take your time. If you wait to open your bottle later, store it in a cool, dark place. I suspect, like our other Anniversary offerings, that this beer will age well and change favorably for years to come. It was an absolute pleasure in the making and I truly hope you enjoy our 11th oak-aged blend! The journey goes on and it continues to be just as fun and exciting now as it was back in 1996.
This beer is dedicated to our incredible and ever-growing brewery family– thank you for 20 years of amazing beer!

Pennsylvania Tuxedo
A spruce-infused pale ale, Pennsylvania Tuxedo pays homage to the flannel-suited hunters and gatherers who dwell deep in the backcountry of north-central PA.  Brewed in collaboration with family-run outdoor clothing company Woolrich, Pennsylvania Tuxedo is a sessionable concoction with a grassy citrus kick complemented by the resinous conifer notes of fresh green spruce tips. We went into the forests of north-central Pennsylvania and Georgetown, Del., to pick these fresh tips ourselves.  A dry yet doughy malt backbone lets the hops and spruce shine while still balancing out the bitterness, making this one an easy sipper.

Today is Beaujolais Day!

2016 Jean Barronat Beaujolais Nouveau

Beaujolais Nouveau, the classic red wine made from Gamay grapes in the Beaujolais region of France, has arrived. By law in France, the third Thursday of November is Beaujolais Nouveau Day, a celebration of harvest and perhaps the French equivalent of Thanksgiving. That is when this popular young wine fermented for only weeks before being released for sale; releasing it before is illegal.
Although Nouveau has been consumed and celebrated by vignerons for centuries, the holiday rose to fame in the early 1950's when wine makers would race to get to Paris from Beaujolais in carts and cars and carriages. The first to arrive with the wine in hand would sell the most wine and, more importantly, get showered with Champagne. The phrase "Le Beaujolais est arrive" comes from that racing history.
If you want to get in the holiday spirit with a glass of Beaujolais Nouveau, several restaurant in Denver and beyond are featuring it. What you will find on most lists is Jean Baronnat, a producer from one of the last remaining family-owned estates in the region. He only makes 500 cases and a local distribution company takes 350 of them.

Teutonic Foiled Cucumber Gewurztraminer - Oregon City, Oregon
Teutonic Wine Company is a small-production winery that strives to make the finest German-style wines in Oregon. The climate in Germany’s Mosel region, famed for producing some of the world’s finest Rieslings, is ideal because of its cooler growing climate which allows the fruit to hang longer on the vines without over ripening. A longer hang time gives the fruit more time to pull up complex flavors from the soil. Therefore, the vineyard sites Teutonic sources its fruit in Oregon are located in cooler areas and at higher elevations. This wine is produced from some of the oldest Gewürztraminer vines in Oregon. This wine has incredible varietal character. Beautiful floral and stone fruit aromas with spice flavors make it a perfect match with Turkey!

A gentle hint of wood sets off a fresh, cool and complex mixture of various red and dark berries and pungent earth. There is fine volume and richness to the delicious and vibrant medium-bodied flavors that possess equally good complexity on the balanced and lingering finish. This is a lovely villages and worth a look.

Bouche d’Or, literally “mouth of gold”, is an intriguing desserrt wine produced from Chardonnay accompanied by a hint of aromatic Riesling. Each year we designate and reserve two acres of our Estate Chardonnay vineyard for the Bouche d’Or. The main Chardonnay is usually harvested the last part of September with the Bouche d’Or following two months later. With very little botrytis bloom this year, the period of concentration was extended, bringing the grapes to the alchemical end point that turns wine to gold.

Drink great bubbles while saving the Ocean!

Iron Horse Ocean Reserve Blanc de Blancs is a special, limited edition, vintage Blanc de Blancs. Iron Horse gives $4 a bottle to National Geographic’s Ocean Initiative, establishing marine protected areas and supporting sustainable fishing practices around the globe.
Artisanal Winemaking: This cuvee is a blend of four Chardonnay clones ? CHW-6, AH-96, AH-76 and Clone 4 – from four different blocks on the estate.
Precision Winegrowing: At Iron Horse "Estate Bottled" means that the winemaking begins in the vineyard. Our location in Green Valley, only a dozen miles from the Pacific Coast, represents the very best soil, climate and aspects for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Our goal is to grow the best wine grapes we should be growing through what we call "precision winegrowing." All pruning, canopy management, irrigation and cover crop decisions are determined on a block-by-block (and sometimes even vine-by-vine) basis, considering both the vintage at hand and the long-term needs of the land.
For Sparkling and Still Wine, Precision Harvesting is Key: Our only rule is to make the best wines we can. We wait until harvest to decide sparkling or still, as a key difference is the brix level (or the amount of sugar in the grapes, less for sparklings, more for still). Then winemaker David Munksgard considers berry size (bigger is better for sparklings, smaller for still), the health of the canopy, clone selection, even small details such as the relative dampness of the cover crop can make a difference. If necessary, parts of the same block may be picked on different days.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings: By nose, orange zest, Tahitian lime and minerality. By mouth, lime, tangerine and creamy richness on the finish. In the spirit of supporting ocean conservancy, best food pairings focus on seafood deemed a “best choice” on the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch® program.

A new arrival from Dogfish Head!

Red & White
Red & White is a big, Belgian-style witbier brewed with coriander and orange peel and fermented with pinot noir juice. After fermentation, a fraction of the batch is aged in one of our 10,000-gallon oak tanks. The idea for Red & White was born at a beer and wine dinner Sam attended on the West Coast. Whenever there's peanut butter and chocolate in the same room, Sam's gonna mix 'em. Red & White successfully marries the refreshing citrusy qualities of a Belgian-style white beer with the robust complexity of a red wine. It's been one of our most popular limited-edition beers at our Rehoboth Beach, Del., brewpub and at festivals around the country. Reach for Red & White when you're grilling meat or nibbling on buttery cheese.

Our new line-up of Craft Bitters made in CO!
Cocktailpunk
Cocktailpunk cocktail bitters are handmade in very small batches in Boulder, Colorado. Our bitters do not include any sugar, caramel, or added sweetener of any kind, nor is there any coloring, artificial or otherwise. We believe that bitters should be just that, bitter, and ours do not add any confusing sweetness. A great cocktail incorporates spirits with sweet, sour, and bitter components to achieve a harmonious balance, and Cocktailpunk bitters are designed do their part with great accuracy.
All our bitters are fabulous alone in cold sparkling water, and very useful for balancing often-too-sweet non-alcoholic cocktails.

Flavors in stock -
CHERRY - A cherry bomb, targeted directly at (your) Manhattan. Vibrant cherry, a hint of vanilla, and subtle spice complements the oak flavors in dark spirits, but the flavor profile is simple enough to use wherever a touch of cherry is needed. You'll never need a barspoon of syrup from the Luxardo jar again.
ORANGE - Why another orange bitters? Because bitter orange is a fundamental flavor that is essential in a wide range of cocktails. Ours is an elemental orange flavor, complemented by fennel and layered anise notes. Perfect in a Martini, but also at home with almost any spirit.
AROMATIC - The old-school workhorse. Our version of the go-to bitters, a base of baking spice is enlivened by bracing cardamom and anise notes. Use wherever standard bitters are indicated, but revel in the lack of gratuitous sweeteners and colorings. These Aromatic Bitters are perfect alone, but also work beautifully in combination with our Orange or Cherry Bitters.
SMOKED ORANGE - Smoked Orange is the new black. Orange zest is cold-smoked with alderwood, and the result is smoky but not overly intense; a finishing touch of mint adds interest. Built for and absolutely killer in tequila and mezcal drinks, but there are also unexpected and wonderful effects in combination with darker spirits.
PASTICHE - Every culture has one: an anise-flavored spirit like Absinthe, Pastis, Sambuca, or Ouzo. Such spirits are widely used in cocktails and tiki drinks... a wash here, a barspoon there, and the result is often a subtle, mysterious accent. Pastiche provides the same results in just a few squeezes, with layered anise, fennel, and licorice flavors. We don't suggest you fake a Sazerac with it, but you get the idea.
ALPINO - Amaro cocktails are all the rage, and Alpino delivers the flavors of a Mountain Amaro in a bitter, convenient, and easy-to-control format. The sage, mint, and herbal flavors can stand in for Amaro and herbal liqueurs in cocktails, but these bitters are useful and very versatile on their own.

A stunning new collectable from Rioja!

Cune Gran Reserva, Rioja 2010
94pts Wine Spectator
CVNE has been on fire in the Wine Spectator lately. It all started at the end of 2013 when the WS:95 Gran Reserva Imperial 2004 became the first Spanish wine in the 25-year history of the Top 100 to be named the #1 Wine of the Year. The momentum continued in 2014 when the winery earned high scores across its range and another Top 100 placement for the overachieving WS:90 Monopole 2013. 2015 was the third year in a row that a CVNE wine was featured on the list with the WS:93 Imperial Reserva 2010 taking the #56 spot.

"Intense dark cherry color, with a top layer of color. Attractive aromas of berries, like blackberries, black currant, raspberry, all is joined together with the spices aromas from its ageing in the barrel. It’s a complex wine very attractive on the palate, elegant with fine tannin.
This generous red shows a traditional character, with leafy, dried herb, tea and spice notes framing dried cherry, licorice and leather flavors. Firm tannins and balsamic acidity impart structure, and this shows plenty of depth, with a juicy, spicy finish. Drink now through 2025.
600 cases imported."

New great value Pinot Noir from down under!

2015 Farm to Table Pinot Noir
Farm to Table are wines blended to match with farm raised meats. We've modified the way we make the wine to match the more ‘open’ fibre, ‘softer’ texture and higher fat content of farm reared meat. As farmers and winemakers with significant experience growing our own grass fed sheep meat or sourcing game from the wild, we have identified the different qualities of these meats and understand how to blend wine to match its profile.
With this in mind, our Farm to Table wines are underpinned by fresh acidity but have slightly fleshier fruit and a little more oak when compared with our 'wild food' wines. This bright acidity keeps the palate balanced and fresh (critical when food and wine matching), while the more generous fruit definition and firmer tannin structure from the oak complements the characters of farmed meats.
Like all of our food wines, Farm to Table is driven by our hunger to get closer to the source of food and wine, and build an understanding of how to hunt, grow and blend it to create harmonious taste experiences.

New arrival from Odell Brewing!

Crossover Sour Blonde
We’re in a relentless search for new ways to influence the character of our beer. Crossover is our tribute to the complex partnership between two of the most prolific and ancient fermented beverages-beer and wine. We brewed a sour blonde ale and aged it in a blend of chardonnay and sauvignon blanc barrels to introduce notes of tropical fruit, elderflower, and a subtle oak finish. The result of this unique combination is a dry, effervescent beer balanced with hints of pear, tart sourness, and a light funk.

 90+ Cellars Kick-Off Wine Tasting Tonight! - October 20, 2016 ShareThis
Join us for a Tasting this Week
Thursday from (4-6:30 p.m.)

90+ Cellars Tasting - 4 for $40!
90+ Cellars was created because we like drinking great wine anytime we want.  We wanted an everyday “go to” wine that tasted like one usually reserved for special occasions, a delicious wine that we could open any night of the week or whenever friends arrived.  Unfortunately, that wine didn’t exist or just took too much time to find.
So, in the spring of 2009, armed with a copy of the latest Wine Spectator, Kevin called and emailed wineries with a history of high ratings and asked if they had wine for sale. Some told him to get lost, others simply ignored him, but in the end, he found a handful of willing wineries. The plan was this: They put the 90+ Cellars label on their wine, and we sell it for less.
You may recall that the economy wasn’t in the best shape in 2009. Demand for wines priced more than $20 a bottle plummeted and inventories were piling up. Rather than discount their wine and erode the value of their brand, wineries were willing to part with it for a reduced price.
That summer 90+ Cellars was born. Since then, it’s been our goal to seek out, bottle and deliver fine wine that costs you less money.  The landscape has changed, but our mission has not. We partner with highly respected wineries around the globe to provide you with wine that will impress your friends and keep more dollars in your pocket.
Saturday night taste. Tuesday night price.

That’s 90+ Cellars.

Your two new house blends, Tendu from Napa!

2015 Tendu Red & White
In 2003, Steve Matthiasson, a leading viticultural consultant, moved to Napa Valley, and with his wife Jill, launched the Matthiasson brand. He is the winemaker and she manages the wine business and fruit orchards. In addition to his work with famed Napa Valley clients Araujo Estate, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, and Hall and Spottswoode, Steve Matthiasson has made distinctive, balanced, lower alcohol wines using less traditional grape varieties and blends.
In 2012, the Matthiassons and their wine broker embarked on a new project to produce handcrafted, affordable natural wines under its Tendu label. The Tendu wines come in distinctive, high-shouldered, short-necked, one-liter bottles with red and white color-coded crown bottle caps, similar to the bottles of everyday Austrian Gruner Veltliner wines.
Tendu is French for taut or tense, and the Tendu wines display body, strength, and zest. Made with grapes sourced from the less expensive Sacramento Valley, the Tendu wines are refreshingly delicious and affordable.
The Tendu white is a blend of 69% Vermentino, 27% French Colombard, and 4% Chardonnay, yet tastes like a cross between Gruner Veltliner and Sauvignon Blanc. It is a crisp white with citrus tones and some mineral and herbal notes that balance the fruit. The fresh zing makes the 2015 Tendu white a versatile food wine - fun with anything including goat cheese, salads, vegetable dishes, fish, shellfish, and chicken.
Because of their tendency to withstand the very dry, hot summers of Yolo County's Dunnigan Hills, Matthiasson grafted Barbera, Aglianico and Montepulciano vines over Merlot vines, and blended them for the Tendu red (46% Barbera, 43% Montepulciano and 11% Aglianico). The Tendu red was fermented in stainless steel, aged in neutral barrels, and bottled without SO2. Matthiasson describes it as a Beaujolais made of Italian varietals. Given its bright red berry fruit and acidity, the 2015 Tendu red would be best served slightly chilled. The medium-bodied Tendu red would be great with anything grilled, Italian red sauce, or with spicier cuisines like Indian, Middle Eastern or Moroccan.
These refreshing Tendu wines are ready to drink at your next barbecue, picnic, or dinner - indoors or outdoors - and would be great summer house wines. And the one-liter size offers 33% more fun.

Antica Teunta Del Nanfro - Frappato
The Antica Tenuta del Nanfro has allocated 37 hectares out of 49 to its vineyards. The company is included in the production perimeterof Cerasuolo di Vittoria, very old DOCG wine, dating back to the Greek colonization. Grapes are always grown in full respect of the land and natural plant characteristics. The mild climate and rich soil allow us to produce precious and genuine wines, with ongoing attention to our land's traditions.
Tasting Notes - An intensely floral fragrance of red rose and whiffs of red berry lead the nose on this easy-drinking, savory red. The vibrant palate offers wild strawberry, crushed cherry and a nuance of baking spice alongside supple tannins and fresh acidity. A light mineral note on the close adds energy.

Mocha Marlin - Porter with coffee and chocolate
Coffee and chocolate come together in this brew.
Our Black Marlin Porter is the perfect beer for a mocha mashup. The addition of coffee and cocoa plays perfectly off the roasty, chocolaty flavors of this English porter, while a hint of vanilla smoothes it all our. It’s full-bodied, but not too sweet; try it for breakfast…or dessert.

The Story....
Some thirty years ago Fred and Cherry Krutz discovered the world of wine when they made an adventitious stop into a wine and cheese boutique in Carmel, CA.  Little did they know that their oldest son, Patrick, would wind up working in the same store two decades later.  The Cheese Shop is where the Krutz family first developed a passion for wine, and where Patrick learned the art of winemaking by working with some of Monterey County’s best wineries.

A hobby becomes a family business....
Krutz Family Cellars was founded in summer of 2003 in Monterey County when Patrick Krutz produced sixty cases of wine. The idea was to purchase a ton of grapes a year in order to produce a small amount of wine for family and friends. However, demand soon changed that plan and Krutz Family Cellars continues to grow in an effort to supply that demand. In 2011 Bryan and Cole Krutz joined their brother Patrick as owners and Krutz Family Cellars is now a family owned winery located in Sonoma County.
 Our Brand....
Since 2003, Krutz Family Cellars has included a Magnolia flower on each bottle of wine that it has produced. The Magnolia, the state flower and tree of Mississippi, is a symbol of our southern roots. It not only represents where we are from, but also our way of life- true, honest, and fun.

A new arrival from Owen Roe!
2014 Rosa Mystica
2014 Rosa Mystica Cabernet Franc
2014 VINIFICATION - The grapes for the Rosa Mystica Cabernet Franc are grown on several hillside vineyards from cooler sites in the Yakima Valley. The vineyards yielded wonderfully rich fruit flavors with natural balanced acidity. Once in the winery, only minimal and traditional handling practices were employed to gently coax characteristics that are expressive of this fragrant and complex varietal.
TASTING NOTES - Aromas of dark plum and rich floral notes are enhanced with a mouthful of classic Cabernet Franc tannins, black pepper and licorice notes. A lovely mid-palate of candied fruit and blackberry preserves finishes with gripping acidity; a sign of great potential for cellaring over the next decade and beyond.

Gran Passione Tasting Tonight & CLOSED Monday! - September 1, 2016 ShareThis
Join us for a Tasting this Week
Thursday from (4-6:30 p.m.)

"Gran Passione Vinos"
The Gran Passione Rosso is crafted in the tradition of “Apassimento” (to dry and shrivel), the same style as Amarone wines of the region. This technique has its roots in an ancient past dating back to the Roman era. Over the centuries, this technique of “drying” the grapes before crushing has been honed, resulting in this unique expression of northern Italy.
Piedmont is often called the “Burgundy of Italy” due to its reputation for many small family wineries and a focus on quality. The Gran Passione Piedmont collection (Barbera d’Asti DOCG & Gavi DOCG) represents the diversity and quality of this northwestern pocket of Italy, set at the foot of the Alps.
Falanghina is a very characterful ancient white grape which may have provided a basis for the classical falernian and is still grown on the south west of Italy near Naples. It surrounds the Mediterranean basin with abundant sunshine and hillside sites for vineyards, and volcanic soil quite suitable for vine growing.

  A beautiful new Tuscan Chardonnay!
Poured at Racca's & Sold HERE!

2015 LaMelle Chardonnay
A straw-yellow color, with slight golden reflections, the bouquet is full of fresh, white pulp fruit and tropical fruit scents, in addition to a slightly-spicy vanilla note. Taste: delicate, pleasant and fresh, with a marked mineral note. The “Lamelle” is made from hand-picked Chardonnay grapes. The vendage is followed by a soft and delicate pressing and separation of the skins and the must.
Taste: well balanced and full of flavor with notes of freshness and elegance thanks to its short cask life which gives the wine its vigor and structure.
Ideal with: Soft and aged cheeses, dried fruits (ex. almonds), light croutons, shellfishes, seafoods, sushi, first and main courses with fish.

2011 Hindsight Napa Pinot Noir

The fruit for this Pinot Noir was grown at 1,500 feet in elevation. Warm days and exceptionally cool nights gave us extended hang time for full flavor development. Aromas of violets, vanilla, and cherry lead to layers of flavors of cherry, raspberry, and spice on the palate. A Pinot Noir with this weight and mouth-feel is typically 2-3 times the price.

2014 Cycle Buff Beauty
Dark red. Aromas of blueberry, boysenberry and woodsmoke, with a subtle floral note in the background. Offers intense cherry, blue fruit liqueur and spicecake flavors that become sweeter as the wine opens in the glass, picking up a peppery nuance along the way. Shows very good depth and a hint of jamminess on the long, supple finish, which is framed by smooth, fully absorbed tannins. A real fruit bomb in an attractive way, but it also has the structure to support its flamboyant berry character. Varietal: 90% Shiraz - 10% Malbec

Replica Wine Tasting!
We believe there’s a better way to enjoy your favorite wines, one that doesn’t involve overpaying for a fancy label or a name. Using our proprietary patent-pending technology, we identify key flavor characteristics of your favorite wines and create near-identical knockoffs. And then we sell them for a price that makes sense.
The ultimate science and wine pairing.
Every wine we replicate is tested for over 60 taste and aroma markers—data we provide to our skilled winemakers to create our master forgeries. Of course, they don’t always nail it on the first try, so we test and retest each one, adjusting as needed until we’ve got a match so close, we can’t even tell the difference.
 Did you know?
Over our ten-year history, we’ve analyzed nearly 2,000 wines over 60 chemistry markers, amassing the largest alcohol flavor profile database in the world.
Our Chief Wine Officer, Brett Zimmerman, is one of fewer than 200 Master Sommeliers active in the world today. Brett approves every single wine before it ever finds its way into a bottle.
Our skilled winemakers have over one hundred 90+ point wines to their credit.

Come be the judge for yourself, it will be a fun tasting either way!!

2014 Disciples
Tasting Notes:
Dark crimson in color, the strong, classic Zinfandel aromas of briar fruit and wild strawberries jump out of the glass and are complemented by hints of wet forest floor and high mountain forest. The entry gives way to a rich and textured mid palate of Mexican chocolate, brambly raspberry and a lengthy, caramelized crème Anglaise finish. This wine is a unique expression of old vine Zinfandel grown in the gravel-rich alluvial soils at the base of the Mayacamas mountain range.

Ale to the Chief!

Originally brewed to celebrate Inauguration Day, January 20, 2009, we elected to give Ale to the Chief a second term to commemorate the 2012 election!? ?Not an “Imperial” pale ale, this is a democracy. It’s Presidential! Take the all-American pale ale, a bipartisan blend of malt and hops, increase both to Avery Brewing standards, and then, of c??ourse, dry hop the result with that most quintessential of American hops, Cascades, and you get this…a brew worthy of the Oval Office!

Highly Allocated Beer Arrivals!

Dogfish Head SeaQuench

SeaQuench Ale is our session sour quencher made with lime peel, black lime and sea salt. It’s a citrusy-tart union of three German styles of beer blissfully brewed into one. We begin by brewing a straightforward Kolsch with lots of wheat and Munich Malt, then we brew a salty Gose with black limes, coriander and our sea salt. We follow it all up with a citrusy-tart Berlinerweiss made with lime juice and lime peel. All three beers are then blended together in the fermentation tank to create this German hybrid.
Reg. $11.99
  Sale Through Saturday $10.99/6-Pk.

Russian River Temptation

Blonde Ale aged in used Chardonnay barrels from local Sonoma County wineries. It is aged for about 9 to 15 months (depending on the age of the barrel) with lots of brettanomyces, lactobacillus, and pediococcus added to each barrel. Medium bodied with hints of oak and Chardonnay, funky brett characteristics, with a nice, long sour finish.
Reg. Price $15.99/375ml.  Limit 1 bottle per customer.

Odell Piña Agria
Explore the bright tropical aromas of fruit and melon, and transport your taste buds to a sour wonderland. A subtle sweet malt and pineapple backdrop bursts with an exotic sparkling tart finish that is refreshing and invigorating. A paradise for your palate awaits.

Santa Ynez, California

The Paring has an extraordinary pedigree.
Made from the vineyard blocks that are either too young or don't fit into the vintage style of the highly acclaimed Jonata and The Hilt wines—The Paring is essentially a "chip off the old block".
The grapes are sourced primarily from three Santa Barbara regions on the vanguard: Ballard Canyon, Sta. Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley.
The Paring makes its own rules.
The Paring Red and Paring Sauvignon Blanc wines explore different blending opportunities where experimentations with site and varieties are key; select vineyards are defined and farmed to our rigorous standards, wine lots are blended and aged together to reach balance and enjoyment.
The Paring Pinot Noir, Rosé of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah wines explore different styles and vineyards: from the precise and complex Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Sta. Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley to the deliciously rich and versatile Syrah from Ballard Canyon.
The Paring wines are for pleasure. They make every effort to strike a balance between volume, and texture, both direct results of the beautiful Santa Barbara sun and cool oceanic winds.

2014 The Paring Sauvignon Blanc
Winemaker's Notes: Exotic and enticing nose with lemon grass and fresh ginger. Citrus oil, lemon zest, chamomile tea with honey. Lemon custard and dried pear on the attack. Voluptous, yet also fresh and energized. Full bodied with a touch of semillon density. Savoury notes. Mouthwatering vibrancy. A wine defined by the sun, but built on a strong foundation of mouthwatering acidity.

2013 The Paring Pinot Noir
Winemaker's Notes: Floral and perfumed nose of roses and fresh strawberries. Underlying the brightness on the nose, is a wine of earthy power and complexity; the perfect combination for pinot noir. Ripe raspberry fruit and hibiscus tea on the velvet palate along with subtle smoke, anise and pepper spice. Fine, dusty tannins and freshness from vibrant acidity on the finish. A wine that speaks volumes about the bright sunshine of the vint age and the deep roots of our mature vines.
2012 The Paring Red
Winemaker's Notes: A dark and brooding cabernet sauvignon-based beauty. Gobs of smoky black fruit. Dusty and herbal notes emerge with air. With more time in the glass, attractive notes of baking spice arise. Remarkably powerful fruit on the attack followed closely by massive structure. Ample fine-grained tannins that completely coat the palate with a gentle hold. The next day this wine becomes luxurious and hints at the epic future ahead. An enormous, yet ultimately refined wine for the classic California cabernet lover, the tannin fanatic, the steak aficionado and the patient cellar tender.
2013 The Paring Syrah
Winemaker's Notes: Incredibly complex and compelling nose with lifted peppermint, green peppercorn, blackberry and black licorice. Grilled steak and mesquite. Violets. So primary on palate; a young wine full of power. A substantial and decadent wall of fine tannins rises on the finish. Young and tight immediately out of the bottle, but full of black fruit after being open a day. A wine of fruit intensity and a chewy structure. It starts out like a steak in the glass, but moves to dark chocolate and notes of Luxardo cherries on the finish. Such fine grained, dusty tannins. Exceptional length. Beautiful ride across palate.

Another stunner from Southern Tier has arrived...

Salted Caramel Imperial Stout
Salted Caramel is the newest in our highly regarded Blackwater Series. To say that it’s among good company would be an understatement. It joins the ranks of Warlock, Crème Brûlée, Choklat Oranj & Choklat, which have RateBeer scores of 96, 98, 98 & 100. We brewed Salted Caramel to pay tribute to one of our favorite sweets. In the same vein as salted caramel chocolates and truffles, our Salted Caramel stout is the perfect balance of sweet decadence and savory salt. Perfect alone, or enjoyed as a float.
FOOD PAIRINGS: Barbecued meats, medium cheese, bread pudding or as a float with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.

Our first ever Bourbon Barreled Wine!

1000 Stories Bourbon Barrel Zinfandel

We are dedicated to incorporating the gentle impact of new Bourbon oak barrels into the Zinfandel wine, with its charred vanilla and dried herbs flavors. The new bourbon barrels from Independent Stave Company give the same impact as a wine barrel, but with a unique flavor profile. Finally, the blend is aged in grand old bourbon barrels from distilleries such as Heaven Hill and Four Roses. Some of these barrels are 13 years old and were once used to make the highest quality bourbon.
Bourbon is uniquely American. It is derived from indigenous corn and aged in native, locally made American Oak barrels that have been toasted and charred to give bourbon its distinctive color and taste. This American whiskey became known as bourbon due to its association with the area of Kentucky known as Old Bourbon in the early 1800s.
The wine has a deep, rich purple color. An intense raspberry fruit is on the nose, with black pepper spice and a touch of cloves and dried herbs. The palate is full with ripe tannins, big black and red fruits, followed by an array of spices. The wine finishes with a touch of warmth that lingers on and on.

Reg. Price $21.99   Sale Through Saturday $18.99
Our first ever wine from Texas!

Texas High Plains Montepulciano
THP Montepulciano was created by winemakers that believe in the magic of blended wines. Montepulciano is a blend of 3 Italian varieties; Montepulciano 85%, Aglianico 12% and Barbera 3%. Montepulciano is doing very well on the Texas High Plains due to its late bud break and late ripening properties. Deep red in color, perfumed-complex ripe aromatics of plum and blackberries, Montepulciano is a medium bodied with rich, lush, expansive tannins. The Aglianico and Barbera contribute to the firm tannins. Watch for this wine to age gracefully through 2018. Wine and food is a natural match, being that this wine originated from grapes grown on the Texas High Plains, try Montepulciano with your favorite cut of beef, or your favorite pasta with a zesty, spicy red sauce. Salute!

Napa, California

“The beginning of vine planting is like the beginning of mining for precious metals: the winegrower also ‘prospects’.”
- Robert Louis Stevenson,
The Silverado Squatters, 1880

A century later, the Miller family began the journey Stevenson described, establishing Silverado Vineyards in 1981. “It was beautiful land, and it was land that was working,” says Diane Miller of their first vineyards, purchased in the 1970s. Diane and Ron sold their grapes to some of Napa’s best vintners, who made award winning wines from them year after year. Encouraged, they struck out on their own with the goal of making the best wines the estate could produce at a fair price. This has remained the guiding philosophy over the years. The winery’s name, Silverado, comes from the abandoned mining town at the top of the Napa Valley, where Stevenson stayed so many years ago. It is an appropriate symbol: three generations of the Miller family are still “prospecting” for wine, staying true to the idea of coaxing something precious from the soils we are privileged to care for.

2013 Miller Ranch Sauvignon Blanc
Our Sauvignon Blanc vines are rooted in a special site between Hopper Creek and the Napa River. Blessed with deep soil, Miller Ranch is also in a climate sweet spot: cool enough in the morning to give the wine refreshing aromas of grapefruit, lime and tangerine; warm enough in the afternoon to give the wine a smooth silky texture and a juicy finish.

2011 Estate Sangiovese
Bright red color. Vibrant spicy cranberry, vanilla and cedar aromas with floral notes that sing the siren's song to entice you to drink (responsibly of course). Juicy red fruit flavors that are incredibly refreshing on the palate make this the perfect Sangiovese for any season.
2011 Mt. George Merlot

Our Merlot vines are rooted in the foothills of an ancient volcano, Mt. George. These rocky slopes are in a climate sweet spot: close enough to the cool San Pablo Bay to give the wine aromas of rosemary and mint, warm enough to bring out flavors of blackberry and spice. We finish the wine in oak to add a hint of cocoa and a velvety texture.
2010 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

Every year, when it is time to assemble the next vintage, we renew the conversation about what makes a "classic" Napa Cabernet. Our guiding idea is balance: richness vs. tannins, ripe fruit vs. dried herb aromatics, ageability vs. instant gratification. Each year we aim to balance the velvety textured cherries and plums from our Stags Leap Vineyard with the big bodied, black berried fruit of our Mt. George Vineyard to create our version of a Napa classic.

   A great new summer Rosé...

2015 SAVED Magic Maker Rosé
An unashamedly dry rosé crafted primarily from Grenache, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Sangiovese. On the nose, it offers alluring aromas of white peach. Its flavors are brightly layered with notes of tangerine, strawberries, and green apple Don’t be fooled by its delicate color, this is a crisp, refreshing wine.
Reg. Price $16.99  Sale Through Saturday $14.99
The Trade Winds have arrived...

The Bruery Trade Winds
Our Summer seasonal, Trade Winds Tripel is a Belgian-style Golden Ale with a Southeast Asian twist. Instead of using candi sugar (typical for such a beer), we use rice in the mash to lighten the body and increase the gravity, and spice with Thai Basil. The result is an aromatic, digestible and complex beer made for a lazy summer evening.
Food pairing - Hamachi crudo with crispy puffed rice, Thai green curry, chicken satay, all while on a yachting adventure.

Reg. Price $10.99  Sale Through Saturday $9.99

Paso Robles, California

In 2000, owner Hansjörg Wyss purchased the ranch, renovated Smith's Victorian farmhouse, and enlarged the vineyard, from 40 acres to its present size of 275 acres. After 10 years of careful planning, 2011 marked the first vintage in our new production facility. Multi-level, the winery utilizes gravity flow in all aspects of the winemaking process. Gravity flow allows the winemaker to handle the fruit in the gentlest way possible, without pumping, from the de-stemmer at the top level, into the tanks, and ultimately into the barrel. Our caves provide optimal storage conditions for barrel aging red wines
Our emphasis on quality in the vineyard is coupled with a commitment to environmentally responsible grape-growing practices, including organic methods of fertilization, weed removal, pest control and mildew protection. Since 2008 we have earned the prestigious SIP Certification for our environmentally responsible viticultural and winemaking practices. Sustainable farming respects and protects the land and the people who work it, as well as producing wines that more eloquently express their provenance.
Paso robles Located in the heart of California’s Central Coast, Paso Robles offers micro-climates and soils ideal for cultivating a diverse array of premium grape varieties. Close to the Pacific Ocean, our warm days are tempered by coastal breezes that flow over the Santa Lucia Mountain Range and cool the vineyards at night, an effect especially pronounced west of Highway 101 where Halter Ranch is situated.
Visiting halter ranch our beautiful westside Paso Robles estate is a short, serene drive from either Highway 101 or Highway 46 in Paso Robles. Our tasting room, set in a beautiful garden with large oak trees, provides a lovely, cool environment in which to enjoy our wines.

Halter Ranch Grenache Blanc - Paso Robles, California *New Arrival

Grenache Blanc excels in our limestone rich soils on the Westside of Paso Robles. Reminiscent of the wines of Southern France, this Grenache Blanc has aromas and flavors of honey, white flower, melons and pear. Delicious on its own, this wine also pairs beautifully with hearty salads, prosciutto & melon, and anything from the sea.
Halter Ranch Rosé - Paso Robles, California
Our 2015 Rosé features a beautiful light coral hue and aromas of wild strawberry, watermelon and kiwi. On the palate, our Grenache-based blend imparts notes of tropical fruit and rose petals, with a refreshing and crisp minerality. Delicious on its own, this wine also pairs well with prosciutto & melon, salmon and light pasta dishes.

Halter Ranch Synthesis - Paso Robles, California
Synthesis blends the power and complexity of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness and elegance of Syrah. A harmonious combination, this wine offers aromas of Bing cherries and plums with flavors of currants and blackberries leading to a smooth finish with well-integrated tannins. Enjoy this wine on its own or pair with virtually everything.

Halter Ranch Cabernet - Paso Robles, California *New Arrival
Cabernet Sauvignon makes up our largest planting at Halter Ranch with almost one-hundred acres under vine. The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon possesses a classic profile with aromas of dark red fruits. Bright and rich on the palate, this wine is brimming with flavors of red currants and cassis and has an underlying minerality. A strong mid-palate and well integrated tannins lead to a long seamless finish. Delicious now, this wine will continue to develop for years to come. Pair with wood-fired pizza, braised game and roasted or grilled meats.

A great new Italian summer BBQ red...

2014 I Perazzi Sangiovese
I Perazzi, the foundation of the La Mozza winery, was created to be unlike most typical Morellino di Scansano. The blend, which includes Mediterranean varieties, is more expressive and better demonstrates the potential of Maremma's terroir. I Perazzi is named after the pear-like fruit that grow on our estate and are depicted on the label.

85% Morellino (the local name for Sangiovese in Maremma), 5% Syrah, 5% Alicante, 2% Colorino, 3% Ciliegiolo
TASTING NOTES
Juicy dark fruit mingles with spice and licorice on the palate. The bright, ripe cherry and soft texture makes this a natural match with fresh Mediterranean flavors and dishes.
GREAT WITH
Tomato-based pastas. Pizza. Roast turkey and pork. Barbecue.
